The Frosty Bike Ride will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:00 am. We will begin at The F.O.X. (south 14th st) and ride the Jamaica North Trail to Roca for a hot chocolate break and then back to the The F.O.X. for a burger and fries. Round trip will be approximately 14 miles. Multi-Day Rides

Most multi-day rides are annual events, each with their own website. Many of these rides fill up well in advance; some have lotteries to select the participants from those that submit registration forms. As such, they require advance planning.

Stage Coach Lake Bike Tour, 22-23 April 2011 is an introduction to bike camping sponsored by UNL Campus Recreation. This tour will get you equipped with the basic skills needed to plan your own cycling adventures. This zero-emissions trip will depart from Outdoor Adventures and take riders along a crushed limestone trail to one of Nebraska’s tranquil state recreation areas. We’ll carry all of our food and camping gear on our bikes on this truly self-contained overnight ride. $35 students & members / $45 general public. Registration deadline 15 April 2011.

There are several annual multi-day rides held in May or June in Nebraska:

Bike MS Scenic Ride is a 2-day ride from Omaha to Lincoln and back, Saturday and Sunday July 9 - 10, 2011. For more information vist it the Bike MS Scenic Ride web site.

BRAN (Bike Ride Across Nebraska) is a 7-day west-to-east tour across Nebraska. BRAN 31 is June 5 - 11, 2011. Tour begins in Brady, NE and makes its way through Callaway, Burwell, Bassett, O'Neil, Battle Creek, Oakland, and finishes in Waterloo, NE. For more information, visit bran-inc.org.

Tour De Nebraska is a 5-day loop tour with about 200 riders run by Rich and Susan Rodenburg. The 2011 tour will be June 22 - 26 in southeast Nebraska, beginning and ending in Syracuse with host towns Brownville, Pawnee City, Fairbury, and Wilber. The advantage to a loop tour is that you don't need to find transportation back to the tour's starting point. For more information, visit the Tour de Nebraska site.

NUMB tour (Nebraska United Methodist Bike Ride for Hunger) is a 4-day loop tour. The 2011 NUMB Ride starts on Saturday June 25th and ends Wednesday June 29th. The sixteenth NUMB will take riders through far western Nebraska: the ride starts in Bridgeport, with overnight stays in Hemingford, Scottsbluff/Gering (twice) and back to Bridgeport.

A multiday mountain-bike tour sponsored by UNL Campus Recreation:

White Rim Trail, Utah Backcountry Mountain Bike Tour, 7-14 May 2011 Join UNL Campus Recreation for a truly unique mountain bike tour of the famous White Rim Trail of Utah’s Canyonlands National Park. This 100 mile route is considered one of the world's great multi-day rides, taking you into the remote depths of sandstone canyons carved by the mighty Colorado and Green Rivers. Along the way, you’ll see arches, Indian ruins, towers, buttes, and unbelievable sunsets. This tour will be supported by a vehicle. We’ll carry all the food and camping equipment allowing you to enjoy the freedom of your 2-wheels to the fullest. Evenings will be spent under the starry Utah sky, resting for another beautiful day of cycling. $495 students & members / $545 general public. Registration deadline 22 April 2011.

A sampling of multiday tours in states surrounding Nebraska:

RAGBRAI The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. The 2011 ride runs from July 24 - 30. As in every year, it goes from the western border to the eastern border of Iowa and is ostensibly limited to 8500 registered riders selected via a lottery. It's really a good bit larger than that as many others tag along. It's hard for those who have never seen it to imagine that many cyclists taking over highways and small towns. The application deadline is typically around April Fool's Day (appropriate) with the lottery being held on May 1st.

Biking Across Kansas Eight amazing days of bicycling adventure across the rolling plains of Kansas. Over 450 miles, from Colorado to Missouri. The 2011 BAK ride is set for June 4-11.

Ride the Rockies The Denver Post Ride The Rockies is an annual bicycle tour that takes 2,000 cyclists on a 6-7 day ride on paved roads through Colorado's Rocky Mountains each June. The Ride The Rockies route is different each year, but always climbs a few challenging mountain passes and showcases Colorado's spectacular scenery. Daily rides can be as short as 35 miles or as long as 100 miles, but generally average 60-65 miles. Ride The Rockies registration is conducted on a lottery basis. The 2011 version is scheduled for June 11-17; lottery applications will be accepted beginning Sunday February 7.

Colorado Rocky Mountain Bike Tour August 7th-13th, 2011. This August, you have the opportunity to join the 5th annual Colorado Rocky Mountain Bike Tour. Riding a true mountain loop, starting and ending in Grand Junction, Colorado, the ride will travel through great Colorado mountain towns such as Hotchkiss, Glenwood Springs, Buena Vista, and Gunnison. The Colorado Rocky Mountain Bicycle Tour will cross two of the highest mountain passes in Colorado. It is 493 miles of challenging riding, beautiful scenery and loads of fun.
