Heatstroke 100 Public Ride Sunday, 28 August 2011

Whoopee!! What a day!! 320 riders, hundreds of cookies, hundreds of brats, gallons and gallons of water, untold numbers of bananas--and numbers of folks who did their FIRST Century ride. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you for making this a great day! People were pleased with the t-shirts and the watermelon, with the Bike Rack guy, who had a line before the start (just like the porta-potties!), with the weather (whoever ordered the morning's weather, we think she/he should get a tip!).

Ride of Silence, Wednesday May 18th

On the third Wednesday of May, at 7 PM local around the world, cyclists took to the roads to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while riding on roads and streets. The Ride Of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph for no longer than an hour, and remain silent during the ride. The ride hopes to raise cycling awareness among motorists, police, traffic engineers, insurance companies, and city officials. About 45 to 50 Lincoln riders met at Sawyer–Snell Park, 1st and South Street (West of Gooch’s Mill) for an 8-mile ride through central Lincoln.    www.rideofsilence.org
